3.7 Filtered anchors — fetch only what survives the filter
MATCH (p:Person)-[:HAS_GITHUB]->(g)-[:RAISED]->(i:GitHubIssue)WHERE toLower(p.name) CONTAINS 'governor'RETURN i.titleMeans: “Issues by people named Hopper” — not the whole address book.
How it executes:
- Probe applies your
WHERE. The probe binds only people whose name contains “governor”, so the bridge resolves those people’s logins only, and the fetch is for those logins only.
The key point: the query’s own filter scopes the fan-out. WHERE p.name CONTAINS 'governor'
is not just a post-filter — it decides who gets resolved and fetched in the first place, so a
filtered query over millions of people costs a handful of fetches, not millions.
